Returns We Will Design, the large experimental laboratory that every year welcomes and promotes projects by designers from all over the world, schools, universities, international institutions, and young students.
Two unique residence projects are The Convivial Laboratory – the Camp and Temporary Home.

The Convivial Laboratory – the Camp, a collective experiment that investigates the different forms of living. From April 12 to the 23, designers, students, curators, and cultural workers, live in a campsite set up on the Terrace. The Camp is a collective experiment that wishes to create a meeting spot, combining the energy of the protest movements occurring in large urban landscapes, with the soft power of the counterculture operating in wild natural settings.

Temporary Home inhabits the rooms of casaBase, the Base guesthouse normally dedicated to the hospitality of artists and designers, with 5 projects translating 5 cutting-edge scenarios, including Angeli’s the light by Angeli (Nathan Raccah and Ward Lauwers), Found In Translation of Computer Room, Moulting by Erica Curci, Radical Rituals 45ºN 1ºW-45ºN 35ºE of forty five degrees, and Without a House by Sophie Conroy.

BASE MILANO – WE WILL DESIGN – FLOWAIR BY INGO MAURER
See on Map
April 15 2024 -> April 21 2024

Amidst the vibrant atmosphere of culture, cafés, and young designers, this year Ingo Maurer incorporates amorphous textures, flowing forms, and organic elements into an installation in the centre of via Tortona. Located at the BASE cultural centre, the Flowair installation winds its way through the inner courtyard, up the fire escape, and onto the roof, offering a spectacle of light and colour both by day and by night.

In this installation, Ingo Maurer explores the theme of inflated shapes, skilfully playing with form, colour, and light to create a visual experience. During the day, visitors experience a variety of objects that are set in motion using wind machines and the natural wind. At night, the light component is added: a play of different Led light colours, which intensifies the surprise from the same perspective, creates a "scent of light".

Lexus returns to Milan Design Week, exhibiting Time, a pair of installations inspired by the LF-ZC (Lexus Future Zero-emission Catalyst), a concept model that explores the possibilities for a next-generation Lexus battery electric vehicle. Their works also look at how the infinite evolution of software has the potential to shape the world of future mobility. The installations are Beyond the Horizon, by Hideki Yoshimoto/Tangent, and 8 minutes 20 seconds, by Marjan van Aubel. Their common theme of Time reflects Lexus’s advances in vehicle design and manufacturing, meeting the challenge of constant evolution with human-centered technologies. They also reference how Lexus continues to develop the value cars can bring, connecting and expanding the experiences they can offer each individual.

LABÒ PROJECT, CURATED BY THE DESIGNER BLENDER

April 17 2024 -> April 20 2024

The second edition of the Labò Project, curated by Designer Blender (Elsa Lemarignier and François Leblanc di Cicilia) and Alisée Matta, takes place at the industrial complex of Società Prodotti Antibiotici (Spa) and the Rodolfo Ferrari Foundation showcasing international designers with an array of emerging talents, companies, and art galleries. The workshop is the distinctive theme of the project: the physical space in which visitors are welcomed along the exhibition path, and the intangible space of a creative investigation that materialises in the design editions presented. The boundary between design and art is also explored with an exhibition dedicated to the designs of the surrealist artist, Roberto Matta, in which his pieces and prototypes and re-editions by Paradisoterrestre are showcased side by side.

Edited by Martin Parr, in collaboration with Magnum Photos

The Milan Museo delle Culture continues its successful collaboration with Magnum Photos hosting the “Martin Parr. Short & Sweet” exhibition, produced by 24 Ore Cultura, 24 Ore Group, promoted by the Municipality of Milan, Culture Department and with the Deloitte Foundation as Institutional Partner, dedicated to one of the most established and recognized British documentary photographers of our time.

Starting with his early works in black and white, the exhibition is focused on themes that are dear to Parr, from ‘sea life’ to tourism, displaying over 60 photographs that Martin Parr has personally selected for this project and presented together with over 200 images from the Common Sense series, that made him a household name, selected from the 350 displayed in the 1999 exhibition of the same name, which takes a close look at mass consumption and waste culture, particularly in the West and Europe.

Since its foundation in 1910, the company has cultivated this principle, which is also reflected in Oasi Zegna. The latter represents a tangible symbol of Zegna's ongoing commitment to environmental awareness and quality of life for future generations.
